About

Hi, my name is Jeff and I blog about a topic that I am obsessed with — Presentation. Obsessed may be putting it mildly. That by itself makes me unusual. Combine that with the fact that I am a geek (Database Administrator) and you may be left scratching your head thinking “how did that happen?”
It happened by happenstance: an event here — an opportunity there. Twenty years later here I am a database administrator and SAS guy, with real world classroom experience, who enjoys the opportunity of helping others learn. And it is an opportunity.
If you are an engineer, computer programmer, database administrator, systems administrator or all-around-geek then you should learn to present effectively. It can change your life in ways that you can’t imagine. I have been there and I can help you.
Everyone should learn how to create and deliver an effective presentation. Everyone. It is not enough to be “comfortable.” You want to be effective. Developing the skills required to do this can work wonders for your career. Learning them and putting them to use can open doors that you haven’t imagined. It requires work but anyone can learn how.
I want you to imagine that you are sitting in your cube cranking-out awesome Ruby on Rails code when your manager approaches. “I am looking for someone to give a very important presentation at an event the CTO is arranging. I can’t do it, would you like to?”
What’s your answer going to be? It could lead to huge opportunities. If you think you may want to answer “yes,” then join me and let’s start getting ready.
